Asia de Cuba

A few photos from one of my favorite dining spots in LA, Asia de Cuba. If you find yourself dining there during the day, make sure to get a table al fresco or right by the window. Their dishes are so colorful and dynamic that having them bask in the beautiful Los Angeles sunlight makes the meal all the more visually stimulating.

I'm in love with their Avocado Rice!

I don't remember exactly what fish this was, but it was perfect with the rice and salad we ordered.

Don't skip dessert! They've got a great selection of them. I loved the carrot cake that we had for my mom's birthday.

What are you craving for?

I always find myself craving for Gyu Kaku's Sukiyaki Bibimbap! It's a Korean fried rice with Sukiyaki sauce that comes in the pot pictured above. My mom and I have our way of enjoying this; we push the rice up towards the sides of the pot and let it cook slightly until it becomes nice and crisp.

I'm so addicted to Panini Cafe's Fresh Orange juice that my friends tease me about it relentlessly. They always know I'm going to order at least 2 glasses whenever we go there. Nothing really says "good morning" like a big glass of FOJ!

Extraordinary Crab + Garlic Noodles at Crustacean

After tasting Crustacean's famed Crab and Garlic Noodle dishes, you instantly realize that probably nothing will ever come close to how amazing they are. Perfectly seasoned, homemade noodles.. sounds like quite basic, but taste it and you'll probably understand why the recipe is top-secret. The crab makes for the ideal pairing with the noodles. Both are equally simple in appearance but don't be fooled, they pack in a mighty amount of flavor. Just thinking about it makes me want to hop on the first flight out to LA. I'm telling you, they're nothing short of incredible!

Newsroom Cafe's Turkey Sandwich

Meet my favorite turkey sandwich from a cafe called Newsroom in West Hollywood. From the oat bun, to the delicious cranberry mayo, down to the sliced avocado, this one spells p-e-r-f-e-c-t for me.

Lobsta Truck

Had this only once but it still haunts me. This is my personal favorite food truck. It might be a little on a pricey side, but each lobster sandwich is packed full of flavor.

Dessert at Katsuya

The spring weather is perfect for a nice stroll at the Americana at Brand. If you happen to find yourself there on a nice day, grab a table in Katsuya's patio area and order a few of their desserts.

Sundays at the Farmer's Market

I love spending a lazy Sunday at the Farmer's Market located right by The Grove. I always find something new and delish when I'm there. The photo above is a refreshing shrimp salad with guacamole, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce. I love hanging out there; it's such a no-frills, casual environment. There are also a lot of hidden gems in there; vintage toy shops, quaint little candy stores, etc.

Rivera, Downtown LA

After hearing a lot about Rivera, I was excited to try it. It didn't turn out to be my favorite place, but I loved how all the dishes were presented. The concept of the restaurant was unique; every "room" had its own menu. I also liked the little touches; the edible flowers pressed into their corn tortillas (see above) and the fun quotes/writings on each dish, just to name a few. I honestly don't remember what we ordered, but I posted the pictures anyway just for the sheer enjoyment of seeing how they creatively put things together.

One thing I loved about Rivera- their cocktails! I remember ordering a beef jerky cocktail which turned out to be awesome. I just hope I find the picture in my iphone album somewhere!

Fogo de Chao

This place has got to be one of my absolute favorite dining spots in LA. A little on the pricey side, but definitely worth it if you love meat and ultra-fresh top-notch food. Advice for first-timers: the salad bar is AMAZING but try not to go overly crazy just yet. When they start serving the meat, it'll be an endless marathon with tons of great selections. You'll want to try most of it and figure out which ones you prefer. I go crazy for their most popular one, the Picanha. 

When people proclaim this salad bar to be the best in the city, I believe them. 

The bacon at the salad bar is fantastic! 

Unlimited sides: Mashed potatoes, polenta, and bananas. I'm addicted to their polenta!
